The False “Religion” of Evolution

I have to tell you that this sign from Pastor Thomas Michael has me really confused. If you are an evolutionist, I suppose it’s pretty easy to be offended at having evolution called a religion and blamed for sin. But if you are religious, I would think you would also have to be offended because it seems to me that the Bible is pretty clear about the origins of sin.

I have been debating about what to write about this sign for a week now and have finally decided to just post it without a lot of commentary. I think I understand that Dr. Michael is trying to say that believing in evolution means that you have strayed from God’s moral compass. But I find that a very subtle and confusing point because:

  1. The Bible tells the story of Adam and Eve and that story is the basis for original sin and mortality
  2. If Dr. Michael ascribes sin to evolution, doesn’t that pose a challenge to a crucial concept of the Bible?

I think Dr. Michael confuses the boundaries of evolution and the concept of the Bible. I think this organization is not stipulated by the understanding of origin and defined borders and notions of sin.
