Thanks for the great pictures and thoughtful review. The music was incredible! I wish I had words to tell how good.
I'm glad Lorne is pleased with his work, I felt a little sorry for him cause he seemed to have to hold back so much.

thanks Dave for the great review and pics. I'm on the left coast and have had the distinct pleasure of seeing Ronnie and the band play a few times, although it has been awhile. Once was at the now defunct Key Largo in Portland, Oregon. He came into the audience and up to my table and played his heart out....right at me! It drove something deep into my soul. He knew I was into the music and since I play guitar, it was a very special moment. It looks like I'm going to have to get out the east coast if I wan to see him again...darn!

It was nice to have Lorne post here also and I enjoyed his comments and perspective on the drums. Good luck to you Lorne and entire band.

Much love to Ronnie and his gifts of love he shares with so many!

Lorne, it was intended to be a compliment. Thank you so much for sharing your perspective and humoring my relative ignorance of the terms of your trade. And I would have better pictures, but drummers never seem to have enough light on them. There was once song in the middle when you let loose and I remember turning to my buddy Dan and saying - listen to that guy go!

Thanks for the long, thoughtful review Dave, and the pics! I had a wonderful time drumming at the show and the Regent is one of Ronnie's favorite places to play. Re your comment about wanting to hear more drumming I'll take that as a compliment! But frankly there are long subdued passages during every Ronnie Earl show where Ronnie likes the band at a very hushed level. And he prefers the cross stick (stick tap as you refer to it) to brushes so I aim to please. Drumming is always a balance and compromise between what I might intuitively choose to play, and doing what the bandleader feels best suits the music. I try to approach the Broadcaster's gig with a lean dynamic style, not overtly drummy or busy--that's what seems to work best for the music. Not that I feel a need to justify my approach here--just thought your readers might like to hear my perspective. I love drumming for Ronnie. Thanks again Dave....Lorne
